My mud flaps had been removed and I had even put touch up paint over the marks to try and mask the damage. It was obvious what had caused the damage to the paint work, both sides of the ute tub area got re sprayed

If Ford was serious about supplying a quality product in these mud spats, they would include in the mudspat kits Scotchgard anti-abrasive strips pre-cut to shape ready to install. And have these fitted under the rear spats on the ute from the factory.
After all these kits aren't all that cheap for a couple of moulded plastic spats and a few clips. |

I'm sure my rear mudflaps have some strips on it. I'm not sure of the front ones. I'll try and take some photos of it.

Sorry mate, I was wrong. There's nothing behind my rear mudflaps. I took a quick look if there was any damage but couldn't see any. Then again, it's pretty dirty behind the mudflaps. I will clean it up and stick in a piece of rubber on the bend. That should keep it away from the paint.
