Default stage 2 or 3 turbo in EL

wanted to know if i got teh stage 2 or 3 snort turbo kit put in my car if it would run on my stock engine? only performance mods i got are a 2 1/2 lukey system from cat back? would the stock internals be alright? and could i run an altedperformance cam with the turbo kit??

stock internals are tuff... so no need to go there yet.

You will need a 3 inch exhaust and an engine management system to run it though. Any motor with a ИИИИ tune will die a terrible death.

so add another 2 grand on top of those kits, and your laughing.

Yes you could run an Altd cam, but why would you want to??

i would want to so i could have a bigger cumbustion giving me more power, PLUS the turbo?? can u not have a large cam with a turbo?? im sure u can...

Big cam is fine, just keep the overlap to a minimum and you will be fine. In my opinion, run the cam with the highest lift possible but with the least overlap.

sorry man can you explain what you mean by highest lift and minimum overlap?? are you talkin bout how high the piston rises in the chamber, and what you mean minimum overlap....apoligise for my lack of "engine lingo" lol :

Unfortunatly I am no camshaft guru myself, I just know a few basic rules about them.....

'Lift' relates to the the actual lobe size on the shaft, the bigger the lobe ,the higher it will push the rocker arm, and in turn, push the valve open more.

You have 12 lobes on a I6 camshaft, each one governs the movement of either an exhaust valve or an intake valve (there are 6 of each).

Basically, if you have a camshaft with high lift, the valves will open 'wider' than with a camshaft with low lift. If you vales are opened wider then theoretically there is more room for the intake air or exhaust gasses to flow past, resulting in better flow figures.

As for 'overlap'.... It is the amount of time (or angle degrees) that the exhaust valve and intake valve stay open togeather. Dont ask me why it is good in a N/A street car, I couldnt tell you. But I do know that If you are pumping air/fuel mixture into a cylinder at pressure (as with turbocharging or supercharging), excessive overlap will cause you to pump an unacceptable amount of unburnt fuel and air mixture out through your exhaust valve.

As I said at the beginning of the post, I am no expert on this subject. I'm pretty sure what I have said is correct. If anyone disagrees, please tell me, if i'm wrong then i'd rather know the real answer.

Alternativley, if I am correct, please confirm this just so we know.

so what cam would you suggest with a turbo application??

We talking DEV5, a wade or a crow cam?? And which would be best?

You should be able to get a custom "turbo grind" if my memory serves me correctly. Wade do one, and I think JMM do them now too.

A custom grind or a generic "turbo grind" is a good idea for every N/A to forced conversion. And off the shelf "turbo grind" would be less expensive than a custom one.

Head on to the crow cams website, you can fill in the details about your car, submit the form online and thier experts will make a free recomendation on the cam that will best suit your car. I'd say that other manufacturers would also have a similar service.

Talk to the professionals, be honest about the capabilities of your engine and let them point you in the right direction. They know what they are talking about.
