Unhappy Forumer In Need : Pls Help

92 model eb series 1 spack 4litre 5speed

radiator and water pump went lastnite when i was out of town, got to a mates place and soldered the split in my end tank, and managed to get my car home. pulled it mostly apart today and cant find the last bolt for the water pump. have three but missing bottom left (if looking front on.)

pulled the radiator back out and have done a pretty good job plastic soldering it. it shuold be able to hold the presuure till i can afford a new one.
what is the going price for a new one? a place has quated me 269 for a new one fitted, will be cheaper as i can do it myself.

and the price for a water pump anyone? i have access to both second hand for 100 all up and both seem to be fine but not sure if i should steer clear of second hand parts i dont know the history of?

i cant get the fan off the front of the water pump either as this would make my job alot easier. any ideas?

does anyone have a shop manuel that they could scan and upload for me on the radiator and water pump assemble/dis-asembally?
should i replace all hoses and clamps now?

also do water pumps just fail? im assuming this is why the radiator split as i was not driving hard. it has 249xxxkms....

cheers guys i need reply's asap if you can help, thanks again in advance Mitch py:

if can you can what you need for 100 bucks maybe it would be worth it at least for the time being so you'll at least have a car?

Water pumps are a componant that has a certain usable life. They do wear out. Normally they start to leak at a special weak point that indicates it is now time to replace. Or they just seaze up solid.

I wouldn't get a used one. It may last a year, it may last a week.

cheers

Theres a hole underneath the shaft called the telltale hole, if it leaks time for a change. id go for a newy mate also its not uncommon for the plastic sidetanks to leak or split, they just get weak from the heat.

water pump = $65 from bursons, that was 6 months ago. The last bolt is probably the one under neith or the one that also holds the alt bracket.

Clutch fan removal involves a 32mm spanner (reverse thread so turn clockwise) and a big *** screw driver jammed between the pulley bolts to stop it moving.

Unless your hoses and clamps look bad I wouldn't bother replacing them. Radiaters can be picked up real cheap on ebay.

Good luck with it.

will removing the fan make it easier to get to the bottom left bolt? (looking front on, i have gotton the bracket bolt)
i got the second hand pump for 20 bucks, new gasket cost 4 dollers and its in good nick, just finished cleaning it.

have fixed tha radiator for time being, passed the presure test so it should last 2-3 weeks before i can afford new radiator and pump.

Thanks alot guys, apolagies for before,

mitch

Hmm...
I had an EB and the water pump wnet, it dumped out all of the water, had to get it towed home. Got a new water pump and it was all good until about 3 months later the head went. Hope you didn't sizzle it!!
