No way, There is no opportunity to get a new V8 Falcon ever again after this, Mustang will (should) be around for a long time

Totally different cars. The XR8 is an awesome car and something that Ford AUS can be proud of. That said, if I could only have one, it would be the Mustang. Cred, coupe etc.

Ford doors.
Blower and Aussie care and detail on Boss. Last of the greats and from a long heritage called Falcon. Mustangs can be bought anywhere, Falcons only in Aus. and NZ. I am uncertain on US build quality. I am a patriotic and over 50 male. Because I want an XR8. |

No chance of that.
One is Australian designed, engineered and built, employs Australians in its creation, is now unique new to Australia and our ANZAC Kiwi brethren and has a supercharger (by Harrop....again Australian). The other is none of these. I have waited nearly 21 years to buy a new Falcon (after I was messed around by dealers looking at an EF XR6 as a modern counterpoint to my then held XRGT) and this is the last chance I have. Why would I buy "the replacement" now? |

Mustang will be good for people who missed out on an XR8- I don't think it's a proper alternative if you have the choice. Unless you don't need interior space, 4 doors, a proper rear seat and boot, towing ability etc.

I'm not a real Mustang fan but I did think in a couple of years time a convertible manual may be an option but it looks like we won't be getting it in that configuration.

I looked at both options in detail before I chose the FG X.
But each to their own. If the new mustang was a Supercharged GT version similar to the Shelbys I would have had a closer look at the Mustang. But the FG X just has too much potential as compared to the higher compression Mustang. Add a few upgrades to the FG X and you have a 600+ RWHP beast of a road car with four doors for the family What more can one ask for? Plus like stated, it is the last Falcon - that alone is the deciding factor for many. |

I cannot vote as I never pulled the trigger on the XR8 as too many cars are taking my
fancy. But now the Mustang is the car.. I will make my way to the dealer in a week or so and order a Black v8 with 6spd manual. Does anyone know what size diff they run? And If we get 3.73 ratios?? |

Mustang for me. Only thing the new falcon going for it is the 335. Otherwise I find it boring to look at inside and out. Inside has barely changed since the Ba. Certainly not a collectors item for me but hey its my opinion only.Plenty here love em and thats great. Mustang is completely different to what weve ever had here. If I buy a car its gotta be different in and out. Would expect many to get bored with the new Falcons interior. Unless you've never owned a falcon ever of course.

I dont think anyone has taken their XR8 to the track yet, but it shouldnt be any slower than the FG GT which was good for low 12s. 2015 Mustang GT is a high 12sec car.

Without a blower...so imagine it with a blower on it...oh wait, we don't have to. Ford Racing did that and made it a 10sec car with not really all that much work:
