Default 1999 Ka broken drum brake retaining spring any help appreciated..

Grinding noise out back end turned out to be a broken spring....Ford parts=no kits available for a 99 to fix. Trying around wreckers etc but other than sourcing from the UK any ideas or anyone have a serviceable drivers side drum assy? Never rains but it pours at the moment with the little Ka......

It's getting harder and harder to decide to keep....sadly as it's such a decent little jigger and has treated us well.

Take the spring from the other side to a springworks place and get another one made?

I dont know what your Ford Dealer told you but the spring kit for the KA is still available for vehicles built up to 30/01/2000. Part number 95AB 2A225 AA. I would have to check NOS for vehicles built after that as they are obsolete from Ford, but possibly still in dealer stock...

Let me know as I will see what dealer stocks it in SA...

Oh no not again....Legend you know i have a run with dealers telling me fibs, same dealer actually. My build is 11/99 though he took my VIN and 'rang around' before saying nope.

On that other note we were talking about I've lodged a whinge with Ford CRC not that i expect to get anywhere, kind of pointless supplying parts that don't fit but and if nobody whinges well....

Sorry mate, I think I spoke too soon. The parts catalogue show that up to that date they are still available, after that they are obsolete. How ever when stock is checked, there are none available at Ford and none in dealer stock either. Usually if thats the case it comes up obsolete in the catalogue, it put me off track... sorry mate.

Did find that the part number I provided cross catalogues with a Bosch part number 1987475221. This may open up other options to find non genuine units else where like a Brake Parts Specialist... Second web site has other cross references as well..

Looks like they are available on Ebay UK... see 3rd link below.
