Bruce McLaren Latest Auto Icon To Get Big Screen Feature
By John Coyle 918 views Sep 29, 2015 It's been more than four decades since New Zealander Bruce McLaren lost his life testing a Can-Am car at the Goodwood Circuit in Southern England. A hillclimb event began his racing career, which would see McLaren race and design cars at the sport's highest levels, including Formula One and Can-Am, before his untimely death at 32 years old. Today, his surname is familiar to enthusiasts around the world due to the Formula One constructor he founded and spectacular cars like the McLaren P1 from the automaker that spun off from the constructor in 1989. But a forthcoming documentary seeks to share his racing career and the genesis of his firm with a new generation of fans. Simply titled McLaren, the documentary is being produced in cooperation with the New Zealand Film Commission and will be directed by Roger Donaldson, who previously directed The World's Fastest Indian. The next few years are shaping up to be good ones for fans of motorsport, as Tom Cruise is set to play Carroll Shelby in Go Like Hell, which tells the story of his battle against Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. An Enzo Ferrari bio-pic starring Robert De Niro is also on the way. McLaren is scheduled for release in 2016. " http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...screen-feature

The Enzo one with De Niro should be excellent, unlike many others I don't mind Cruise and he can wheel a car pretty good, should be a decent fit.

I'm sure many will feel they failed on both counts.
They always have the stacked phone books trick to fall back on if he's standing next to anyone, and won't be able to tell inside a car. Besides, they did wonders with making people seem taller/shorter in the hobbit movies. |

First he played Jack Reacher a 6' 4" 240lb army veteran and now Carrol Shelby.
All my heroes are being lampooned. Not good!

Camera angles can do wonders, I don't think it'll matter too much about his height (or lack thereof).

I generally hate Tom Cruise, but he's great in Edge of Tomorrow (and as a bonus you get to see him die over and over).
I can't see him as Shelby, though. That's a real stretch.

Despite being widely regarded as a Tool, he does a pretty good job on the big screen.

I agree he's a good actor and seems to be intelligent, so one wonders how he became so immersed in Ron Hubbard's delusional bull's excrement.

Yeah , not really a fan either, a bit surprising Hollywood can't find any other suitable Wheel men to do the job.

I hate Tom Cruise.
Sadly, this will be a film I will miss.

It's a real shame that Steve McQueen isn't around to play the part.

Tom Hardy would be a better Shelby than Cruise.
