You might enjoy this video link of the Sandown 1977 Hang ten challenge (20 feb 1977) which features a bit of footage of Murray's car - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIAiLz8o7KY
I had a look closely at the images and the murray carter vehicle (purple) with the rear wing spoiler (the one that has a gap between the top spoiler and the back of the car) is 1977.

I admire the photos you sent in mate and I appreciate it as I had not had any images of the vehicle with the different rear spoiler, others didn't believe that Murray raced with one but he obviously did.

Do you mind if I private message you?

Cheers

Why is one of his dark blue/purple XBGT's sponsored by Brian Wood Ford a number 3 car, when he was known to race as #18 during his Brian Wood Ford career (and later)? I have photos of both XBGT's and when I figure out how to post them I'll do so in the comments. I'm fairly sure the #3 was a car he had during 1977.

Any help is appreciated, cheers. I'm fairly new to all of this.

My recollection is that he ran #18 throughout 77. The first photo I come across in magazines is Rd 3 and it was #18. He had this number in the 76 season too.

Is that the photo you are referring to in AMC? If we could figure out the track it might help.

My best guess is that the photo is from a sports sedan race or another mixed category race where they changed the number temporarily for that particular race.

Yeah I'm fairly sure every race he did in the Brian Wood Ford Dark Blue/Purple colours, he raced as #18. I'm thinking it's more than likely that he did race with #3 in another race, I just cannot find any images on it. I am not sure though that the vehicle is the same as there are a few sticker decal differences between the #18 that raced at Amaroo Park in 1977 and the #3 vehicle I've been inquiring about. You can also see that there is a different rear wing spoiler.

There's so much to find out about many vehicles... it's a shame the internet wasn't around then lol.
