My dad still says shell is **** and his excuse was something about shell using bad fuel in the 80's which was causing problems with bikes. I always use BP shell or caltex and never notice much difference. That's both with premium unleaded and also diesel. |

Definitely a difference in the different brands of 98 premium, my '66 Chrysler has a 500 stroker big block with 11.23:1 compression and it pings on all 98's, BUT if i buy 98 from a "budget servo" ie Puma,Matilda or Liberty it pings even worse. So only BP Ultimate, Caltex Vortex or Shell V Power go into it. Only with Av-Gas it doesn't ping.

No sorry they don't . Mobil doesn't refine fuel in Australia anymore. And has contracts with different terminals around the country to supply fuel. In my area they pull out of BP. In other states they use Shell And or Caltex. So it depends what area your in. I'm not a fuel engineer, or industry expert. Just a tanker W'nker.

There is a difference.Went to Perth to visit friends and had to stop to get fuel, so stopped at some stupid peak servo which i never usually do but was the only one around, anyway it was pretty busy so i reversed onto a bouser because i didn't want to wait for 2 cars.
Anyway the pump didn't turn on, waiting..waiting.. then this woman came out. Sorry sir can't turn the pump on because you are facing the wrong way, I said just turn the f'in pump on, she said it says on the sign that only one way. But you can't see the sign because it's facing the shop what is the point in that. So yer there is a difference don't go to these crappy servos. There fuel used to make my xd ping yes even there premium. |

Depends where you live. Most 98 in Perth comes from the local BP refinery. Shell brings in there own fuel.
