Default Closing date for Broadmeadows factory.

O.k we are in 2016 now......How long do we have until the factory in Broadmeadows shuts down?

I'm trying to work out how long we have until the country falls into a recession?

Last week we had the news of Dick Smith stores going down and then today we have news that Masters is going under also. STock markets around the world also up and down all over the place!

It just feels like the **** is hitting the fan only 2 weeks into the new year???

Any chance Ford throws a BBQ for us ex-employees?
Doubt it.
The writing was on the wall thirty years ago at Ford Geelong plant. Nuthin but doom and gloom with the rumour the plant was going to shut at any moment.
Losing Ford.
It's a bloody travesty!

James Dibble with the last news.

We are already in a recession, it's just that nobody wants to talk about it as confirmation will only make things worse.

Last vehicle to go down production line on 7th October. Obviously the plant will still be there as the last few cars are hanging round and a little longer as they start to decommission the plant!

Don't know why so many are so keen for us to be in recession. Keep hoping for the worst and eventually you might be right. Only took 30 years for you guys in the Geelong plant...

The Territory name plate will continue on another vehicle, more than likely the Edge??? It will no longer be the Falcon based vehicle you and I know it as and no longer made here, it will just be a rebadged what ever. Oct 7th is the last day!

Who says it's overdue? I. An almost garuantee any 'expert' you name has been wrong twice as many times as they've been right.

Ironic how when the rest of the world hits the crapper Australia's economy goes strong. Now when everyone else is recovering...

Oil $30 a barrel but we are paying record petrol prices. Economist on ABC said " oil at $30 dollar at 70c petrol should be around 70c to 80c litre
why its not isn't explained " the great Aussie rip off continues

Over in WA things will look grim when the over supply of houses and apartments sit vacant for months with a state population in decline and record low resourse prices. WA now has close to the highest unemployment rate in OZ. If the building industry stalls we're toast

We were paying around $1 a litre back in the early/mid 2000s when the oil price was similar to what it is now. When you factor in inflation its not really that far off what it should be. It was about $1.13 today in Perth. The Aus dollar was similar too.

Record petrol prices were back a year or 2 ago, when std unleaded went over $1.60 in Sydney metro area.

I get what you're saying though, it should be around $1.00, not $1.30.

I think Petrol is about double what I was paying for it 30 years ago. Beer and milk has gone up more than that.

Admittedly, I don't drink as much milk as I use petrol.

Fords closure won't have as big an impact as the Holden/Toyota closure.

Ford have more people not building cars that will be in a job.

A long procession of Falcons from all over the nation cruising slowly past their birthplace would be a fitting goodbye. Imagine a long line of just Falcons. No hyundais, holdens, toyotas, mitsubishis or whatever else pedestrian vehicles in sight. Could even set a guiness record for the longest line of vehicles of one model in a row.
