Yeah but can you imagine the look on the guy with the stock VX OR VY HSV Clubport or Monaro or VE SS that gets his bum handed to him by a 280kw 4cyclinder Falcon. The look on there face when they see the Ecoboost sign on the boot, PRICELESS

Effect magnified times 10 if the ecoboost or whatever motor is put into a stock looking older lighter Falcon with faded paint and mismatched rims.

Well d by that theory they never would build any performance car. I love beating Holdens with a 6 and i use to do it back in 94 with a EF XR6. But can you imagine doing it in a 4 cyclinder. I don't think these engines are quite as high strung as some may think. They still last for 200,000kms

Not as high strung as the A45 AMG (26psi) but the RS is still quite high considering peak boost is 23.2 psi utilising a twin scroll design.
For reference the B series XR6T was around 6psi stock and the FG was 10psi stock. I'll be keeping my RS stock, but once others start tuning we'll find out how much headroom they have.

Why not just beat the Holden with the Focus RS?

I think if you pull up next to a Holden in an RS they are already going to know the end result. But a Ecoboost G6E with an RS motor would be a surprise. Imagine the look on the guy's face when he comes up beside you and you tell him it's a 4 banger. Holden driver slowly puts his window up and never speaks of said race ever again and hopes that nobody else has seen it.

That might be fine if you don't need a big boot and heaps of interior room and have close to $60,000. None of that suits me.

I'm hearing you. The same arguement was used years ago when I had a 500hp turbo EA. They all said why don't you just buy a V8 it will be less stressed. Yeah right and look how that ended up when the BA came out.

The best bet would be the 2.3L from a Mustang. As others have said, it's already designed for RWD applications and would bolt in easier. The RS motor had some revised internals, but for the extra outlay I doubt it'd be worth it. A worked 2.3L Ecoboost if one could be had cheaply would be amgood proposition. Worked in a falcon, would be a great sleeper.
