Default Rs 2000 engine color

I am about to pull the motor out of my mk 2 rs 2000 and freshen up the engine bay . Can someone tell me what color the engine was originally Thanks

Good question. It looks like a variety of colours were used over the years but the 25 homologation cars that came here all looked to have had the blue painted block rather than the red or black in other markets.

We can probably track down a paint code for it somewhere.

The block and rocker cover were black. The black cover denoted the high compression pistons fitted to the RS 2000.
Other 2 litre Escorts had a blue rocker cover.

Not sure about that, motors in the Australian built RS2000 are the same as any 2 litre Escort or Cortina, [2 litre Motor was high compression in all models except for auto versions, they were fitted with low compression motors even in the auto RS's] All BC Escorts have black block and cam cover. BC Escorts also have a metal air cleaner canister not plastic as used on the early 2 litre Escorts that have the blue cam cover, not RS's.
