"The father of racecar driver Robby Gordon and his wife were found dead at their Southern California home Wednesday, according to the Orange County coroner.
What led to the deaths of Bob Gordon, 68, and Sharon Gordon, 57 ”had not been ruled one way or another,” Orange County Supervising Deputy Coroner Kelly Keyes told USA TODAY Sports. Keyes said autopsies were scheduled to be conducted Thursday. “I’m so sad and I can’t believe it,” Gordon told reporters at the home where the bodies were found. Police in Orange, Calif, received a 911 call from a neighbor at 5 p.m. on Wednesday that reported there were two bodies inside the Gordons' residence, Orange police Lt. Fred Lopez said in a statement sent to USA TODAY Sports. Officers located a rifle inside the home, Lopez said. "There is no cause of death at this time," Lopez said. Neighbor Jill Dombroske said the Gordons were longtime residents of the quiet neighborhood where large homes sit on expansive hillside properties and many people own horses. Residents were out Thursday morning walking and riding horses on dirt trails that run along the winding hillside roads. “I feel very sad,” she said. “Everyone here will be very sad.” Robby Gordon, 47, is a former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and owner. He won three Sprint Cup races in a career that spanned parts of 19 seasons. Known as one of the most versatile and aggressive drivers in the sport, Gordon is an accomplished off-road racer and started the Indy 500 10 times. He nearly won the 1999 Indy 500 before running out of fuel in the closing laps. Gordon is one of only four drivers, joining John Andretti, Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch, to compete in the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were among the fellow drivers who expressed sympathy on Twitter." http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...dead/90400892/

Wow. Not a lot of info around at the moment.
I met Robbie, he was a nice bloke, happy to give me a few minutes of his time. Am interested to know what went on for them both to have been killed. Mentioning a rifle was found could mean anything with the way news reports are done these days |

"ORANGE - Confusion. Shock. Grief. And questions.
But few answers. The violent deaths of Robert “Baja Bob” and Sharon Gordon – the father and step-mother of well-known race car driver Robby Gordon – shook the racing community Thursday. “This is devastating,” his son said, fighting back tears. “He taught so many, and I want everyone to know what a good man he was.” Some details emerged Thursday evening: A day earlier, Bob Gordon died from injuries consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the results of an autopsy by the Orange County coroner’s office, while Sharon Gordon died from strangulation. The police are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide, said Lt. Fred Lopez of the Orange Police Department, adding that it doesn’t appear that police had answered calls to the house before. “There’s no witnesses,” said Lopez, when asked about a motive. “So that’s something we have to put together piecemeal. We have some ideas. But it’s all speculation. ... “We’ll eventually come to (an official) conclusion,” Lopez said. “But we may never really know why.” Bob Gordon, 69, didn’t show up at the doctor’s office as scheduled Wednesday, his son told the Register. So Robby Gordon and others began a search. Jay Hooker, Bob Gordon’s old racing buddy and neighbor, discovered his and 57-year-old Sharon’s bodies upstairs at their home on the 1400 block of North Kennymead St. in Orange Park Acres, where large houses sit on expansive hillside properties, many with horses. He called 911 around 5 p.m. Police found a rifle and a knife in the house, but Lopez did not confirm the gun was involved in the one death. No other guns or drugs were found." http://www.ocregister.com/articles/g...ome-robby.html
