Default Insurance Claim

Although not specifically a Fiesta question, but as we own a WQ model, can we ask of the forum its view on claiming on our insurance for all the little scratches and blemishes sustained on the paintwork. It would be worth paying the excess if this was allowable.
Also what would we expect to pay for a repaint?
Many thanks.

You have buckleys chance of getting insurance to stump up for a respray. An incident has to be declared for insurance to pay and the only thing they repair is the damage sustained and nothing else (if less than 50% of the market value of the car, otherwise they write it off).

Are they small enough to hide with a solid wax and buff? I'd be more concerned about losing my max no claim bonus if its only a few light scratches. I have seen some pretty good paint repairs before, but also some terrible ones. I had the rear bumper on a car resprayed way back when and they paint match was good, on pickup I argued about the cracked windshield, hot day? Bull****. They replaced that and when I got home I noticed half the front bar had been sprayed over and slightly mismatched paint. The airbox resonator was nissan too. It was a rush job because the grubs smashed my rear ended car. That was a bad paint repair. Weigh up your excess and factor in any no claim bonus against a quote if the scratches won't buff out then go from there

Depends on the policy. My boss had panels touched up and rims refinished through insurance on his old bmw anytime anyone breathed on it the wrong way. His insurance was through the roof, but it was a company tax write off so he didn't care.

Wear and tear is NOT claimable

Read your PDS
Download from their website

Will show what you can and cannot claim

And call them and ask

And all those small scratches and scrapes which happened at different times are deemed a separate claim, with its own excess. My exes Honda had 2 damages claimed and repaired at the same time, excess at the time was 2 X $400.
You'd be better off going direct to a crash repairer and asking for a quote to pay yourself.

Thanks for the advice.
Any idea what a cost for a repaint? Or maybe a cut and polish would suffice (if they do such a thing these days)?

They do, but if you have stone chips a cut & buff won't help have to paint it

How long is a piece of string? Depends how bad it is. Look up touch up places rather than panel beaters.
I got my fiesta touched up when a trolley scraped it. Wasn't perfect, but you would never know unless you looked. They also touched up any scratches and stone chips. All up was only $100. Definitely worth it and cheaper than respraying panels.
If your in Sydney touch up guys are pretty good.

Default Re: Insurance Claim/Parking Sensors

Many thanks for all the advice.
I will get a couple of quotes as suggested from detailers/touch up specialists.
I have added another title to the thread in the hope of cutting down the amount of future knocks.
I have recently purchased a Territory and the parking sensors are fantastic.
Would like to have them fitted to Fiesta. Camera not necessary but audible sensors front and rear would be great.
Has the forum had any experience with retrofitting and what is your advice?
Any idea of cost?
In Melbourne.
Many thanks.
