Default Drive away price

Ok, so what does the "drive away" price include ????
AKA, a brand new car "Drive away" for $39,990.....
Do you get a new vehicle, with registration and all fee's, taxes and levy's included in the "drive away price ? Being $39,990
Or are there hidden extra's like rego and stamps ?
Cheers

If they advertise drive away....I reckon that would be it.

Victoria LMCT retailers by law have to advertise drive away prices.

Yep, driveaway means registration, dealer fees, GST, stamp duty and CTP insurance are included in the price. What isn't included is comprehensive insurance or any transport fees if the car is being delivered to you (unless they throw that in to get the deal), and a full tank of fuel seems to be a hit and miss, so worth asking for that too. Essentials like tints and mats are a good bargaining tool to get the deal closed.

All good.
Just got the Vic rego papers
The bill is $2,360
The print on the paper is out, so it shows that amount as due !
But, looking really closely I can just make out the "paid" stamp ......

They must be broke/out of ink !!!

Cheers

What's included in that Vic rego bill of $2,360?

That would be mainly stamp duty at $42 per $1000 of value plus rego fee plus number plates

I had a friend (who got his P's at aged 25) who thought driveaway meant it included the wheels. He once said "I would only every buy a car that has a driveaway price, I don't want to have to buy wheels separately"
He was about 22 when he said that.

This makes me fear for our world, there are so many of these people now, and somehow they work out how to find partners that are just as dumb, and then they work out how to breed.

Actually this thread makes me worry, seriously, what does 'drive away mean'??

It can't really be interpreted in any other way.

He isn't that bad in general, we went to that same school and he did as good as most people at school. But when it comes the automotive world, he has no idea at all.
He once bagged out people who have automatics with a custom exhaust. I would be surprised if he knew the order to move the manual gear shifter.
For someone who knew nothing about cars, he liked to comment on them.

one would hope, XB GS 351 COUPE

But throw an asterix into any line of the paperwork somewhere and all bets are off

It is pretty hard to pick a winner between Govco & some Car Sales persons as to which is screwing us worse

I trust neither

Sure "we" will let you drive it away (on a $28 permit valid for 30 days)
In that time Vic Roads "may" send you an invoice for Rego
Whilst the ATO send you a payment demand for the purchase "stamp duty"

For the record
First time ever buying a brand new vehicle (bucket list TICK )
Also, I did transfer my existing plates to the new vehicle, and when the rego papers arrived with $2,300+ owing (with a barely discernable PAID stamp on it)
I wouldn't have been surprised !

Cheers for the replies

unless you buy a tray back ute the tray is extra and they won't let you drive away
so the list of $26,990 drive away for a triton cab chassis doesn't mean the you can actually drive it away for $26990 unless you bring your own tray and have it fitted by them at a time booked a few weeks later
this was a few years back i'm sure they can't keep doing this

Drive away price? Isn't that your bail price after you take a test drive. But never return?
