When I bought my Fiesta a few months back, I bought one of the last of the WP run out models so colour choice was somewhat limited. In fact, I bought the last 3 door manual available through that network of dealers. When I found out the car was Sub Lime (very similar to a Territory colour), I got nervy so the dealer ended up offering $1000 credit towards some extra options. So it's certainly worth fussing over, doubly so with an XR8.

Well we decided to go with Silhouette. We received the best price from this dealer, more so than any other dealer we tried. Didn't end up getting much more than about $200 worth of extras on top of what we already had, but it was something, now if I can get them to delete the clock on top of the dash I'll be extra happy...

Now all we have to do is wait, and invest in some extra car wash and polish because we'll have to wash it so much more often.

If anyone from QLD has some pics of their pride and joy when it's a little bit dirty, ie a week or fortnight between washes that feels like posting them up I'd be interested to see just how dirty the black can really get!

Thanks again all!

Brett

Brett it all depends on where the car is garaged at night time etc.

If its in a garage at night time and your work place isnt in a dirt car park then you should be able to get away with washing it 2 times a month.

I would invest in some good stuff like the meguires NXT wax and apply it when you pick it up!

You can delete the clock if you want, just give it to me and ill give you the triangle bit out of mine :P.

Was going to look at the Bowdens Own stuff, as we were up at their place last year for a tour (fantastic it was too). That or perhaps some Swissol Oynx.

Car is garaged at home and parked undercover at work, only time it's not is when I'm out and about. So that should be ok then.

Be careful what you say I may just take you up on the triangle for the clock, you never know!

Cheers
Brett

I was driving past the dealer last week and had to pull in to take a look at the dark green XR8 they had in stock. It was very much like the colour polynesian Green of my EF....

Bugger me, it turned purple by the time I got a little closer to it !

The paint was factory, depending on the light it flipped from a greenish hue through blueish then to purple tones. I loved it !!!!! Sur it was dark, it would be a bugger to keep swirls and scratches out of, but the look was sensational. We shouldn't even think about stone chips.........

Made my Phantom XR look very plain Jane.

if this colour has been around for ages, I must have had my head buried in a bucket of sand. I want it !

The colour your describing Tex is Fantasy. It is a chameleon paint from factory. The maintanence of the paint would be very costly in the long run.

It has been around for the BF only, so not that long.

Saw a 'olden Ute today with a 'Fantasy' type paintjob, it looked BLAH. :
Don't much like the Ford version either. Each to their own, I guess.
I like a car that is proud of it's colour and doesn't try to change. HA HA

I have Silhouette, I give it a proper wash every weekend and a quick wash during the week, depending on whether or not it has rained (Rain is the enemy).

As long as it's waxed, it won't be too hard to clean and will look great

I have noticed that when it is dirty, it doesn't look dirty at night.

You will notice the dust on the bonnet when you are driving but it won't be so noticable to other onlookers.

Is Black paint worth the extra effort? HELL YES
