Default Weekly Race 4 Real Report: August 2, 2017

Wednesday night Race 4 Real off-street meets continue to be one of the most popular events on the Sydney Dragway calendar and it’s quite easy to see why!

Here are some great performances from last week’s Race 4 Real at Sydney Dragway.

Top Holden of the Week

A piece of Australian motoring history, this FE Holden is the quintessential 50s hot rod. Featuring immaculate paint and bodywork, a roll cage and some serious horsepower, this timeless classic was right at home here at Sydney Dragway.

Top Japanese of the Week

The Nissan 200SX can be considered somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades kind of car. They look just at home sideways on the track or cruising the streets as they do running the quarter mile. Take this immaculate S14 for example. Thanks to some wide, grippy rubber fitted to the rears, launches with minimal wheel spin are made much easier, allowing this 200SX to achieve some pretty impressive quarter-mile times.

Top European of the Week

Being a car that was originally intended for tearing up sand dunes, the Volkswagen Buggy is definitely not something you see every day here at Sydney Dragway. Nevertheless, this yellow example managed an impressive best time of 15.40 @ 86.33 MPH, due in no small part of course to the Buggy being such a lightweight vehicle.

Top Rotary of the Week

The last and arguably the very best of the FD Mazda RX7, this Series 8 RX7 was something to behold. As clean as they come, this RX7 looked as it did from the assembly line bar a set of quality aftermarket wheels.

Top Ford of the Week

The Ford Mustang EcoBoost stirred up quite a bit of controversy when it was first announced with the idea of a turbo four-banger version of Ford’s iconic pony car having seemingly been unheard of. Since its release however, its proven itself to be quite the performer. Take this bright blue EcoBoost Mustang for instance, running a best time 15.20 @ 94.12 MPH, with plenty of room for more.

Commentator’s Pick of the Week

Definitely something you don’t see very often, this bright yellow Hillman Hunter was an interesting addition to this edition of Sydney Dragway’s Race 4 Real event. With a best run all the way into the 13s, we’re itching to know what’s sitting beneath the bonnet of this absolute sleeper.

Race 4 Real is on every Wednesday night at Sydney Dragway, weather permitting. Keep it safe, legal and off the streets! Gates open at 4:30PM and racing starts at 6:00PM. Check our website for T&C’s and entry information.

Stay tuned for our coverage of the next Race 4 Real event on August 9!
