Default Just bought 2012 Titanium

Hi all,

First post - so let me know if I'm doing anything wrong!
I just bought a 2012 Petrol Titanium Sedan in Panther Black with the Sports Executive Pack. The car's got 118,000 kms as the previous owner used it to go from Perth to Port Hedland and back regularly (don't know why she didn't get the diesel)
For a 2012 car the condition is absolutely crap. Like really, really bad. Wasn't taken care of at all. But, I got it for $6500 so that was expected.
I'm hoping to bring it back up to a good condition, especially the paint which needs some serious restoration.
I've had the car a week now and been using all the toys, but I suspect the Adaptive Cruise Control isn't working. Either that or I'm doing something wrong trying to use it...
Its showing up with the bars that you can adjust for distance, but it won't recognise any cars in front at all - no matter how close, what speed etc. tried everything.
If anyone has any knowledge about the system and why it might be playing up - I'd love any help I can get
Oh also the previous owner didn't ever use it (didn't even know it had it) - she only bought the SE pack for the sunroof.

Thanks!!

The system is largely managed by the proximity warning radar module (mounted in the engine bay) and the proximity warning module (in the dash) so in order to isolate down to those two, check that the normal cruise control functions properly. If so, it is in the PWS and if not then it could be in either.

Important to bear in mind that both these components are also used by the EBA (Emergency Brake Assist) system.

Usually, damage to the front of the vehicle (even minor) can knock the radar module out of alignment but it can be realigned using a simple process which you can trigger by unplugging the module (then start/stop the vehicle) and plugging it back in which should put the system back into realignment mode - which is depicted by the 'follow' lamp flashing. To realign:

1. Drive above 50 km/h on a (preferably) straight road with reasonable traffic volumes and roadside furniture.
2. Ensure you maintain a 2 sec gap to other vehicles as much as possible.

The system will perform the realignment and the lamp will stop flashing when it completes. Time will vary with conditions.

Cheers
Russ

Thanks RussellW

Any idea where the unit is located in the engine bay?

Thanks

Please see the diagram below.

It should be noted that the system can be deactivated via the menu system.

Where:

1 = ABS Module
2 = Adaptive Speed Control Module
3 = Instrument Cluster
4 = Operating Buttons for Adaptive Speed Control
5 = PCM
6 = Radar Unit

Cheers
