Default Cortina Mk1 information

Hi Guys.

I'm compiling an article on early Cortinas & I've come across a query I cannot answer.

I know that late Mk1 & many Mk2 Cortina had column shift autos & column shift manuals available for the 440 (4-door models).

Were these available for the early Mk1, i.e. pre-Aeroflow ventilation models ?

I've got a genuine Ford Consul/ Cortina pre airflow workshop manual and thats saying there is a column shift manual but nothing about an auto of any kind. Nothing in the carb section about a kick down linkage either.
Hope that helps

Thanks for that. Yes, on further investigation it appears that the 4-speed column manual was introduced when the 4-door Cortina was first released in June 1963, but the auto trans didn't even appear until June 1965, (post-Aeroflow).
