Hard to sell? I'm not so sure. Territory was selling quite well before the diesel engine was introduced, and current resale values show that the diesel and petrol models both sell for about the same amount on the used market.

Petrols were harder to sell then Diesels new. They had alot longer holding days in comparison when they were brought into stock. Im talking purely diesel vs petrol here, not SY vs SZ.

I agree, when I replaced our SZ diesel with an SZII diesel last Feb there were mostly petrols still available and the sales split always favoured tdi's. I'm thinking however where Ford don't have to "protect" any local manufacturing now they should bring in these hipo versions of Endura etc..but of course the Fed. government has to play ball and get rid of our adr's or align them with Europe and reduce the cost of compliance of different versions of the same model,as we have discussed earlier.

Automotive manufacturers don’t batch build, thay balance the line by mixing products to keep a constant cadence through all workstations.

One in every ten Mustangs built is a RHD, I expect RHD Edge is built similar to
standardise the product mix, line speed and delivery of parts from suppliers.

I don't think it would be. Even Commodore with it's historic name, when turned into a FWD, is only selling a shadow of its former self. The whole segment is on the nose, how would a bigger FWD with a Ford badge rather than Holden or Camry, and name last given to an ovoid disaster do better than the long established yet completely ignored Mondeo? Avalon, Malibu, Epica - need I go on?

As to why it's not selling in China I have no idea. Maybe they like RWD?

Petrol was RWD only affair in SZ. If you wanted AWD, you had to get the diesel. If only they had petrol AWD right to the end...

Why? I've owned 2 Territory's both RWD, it does the job and uses less fuel.

They trial fitted a few NA V6's, but as far as i'm aware there were no plans for an ecoboost version.

That's right here was talk of using the Duratec 3.5 cyclone V6.
I think just because it was available at the time.

It was part of a deal, take Focus production, give up I-6 and import V6.
There was a belief that the I-6 would take lots of work to meet Euro 4
but using T6 project emissions program proved it could be done for $20 M.

At the same time, Asian nations threw up walls that stopped Ford exporting
territory and also Focus if built in Australia. Fitting he V6 to the Falcon was
found to be problematic, much wider and taller requiring reworking of the

From what I understand, the Thai free trade agreement was a big part of what killed Focus production here.

They signed the FTA but the put legal capacity taxes on imports
Which added huge amount to Terry’s price tag, pity we didn’t reciprocate

FTAs aren’t signed purely for automotive gain. How many extra millions of tonnes of food or grain can we export under this FTA? Thailand was never going to go nuts over an Aussie built car.

There was an ad for the Holden Commodore ZB on Sunrise this morning. It wasn't being driven gently. Basically, " we have thrown everything at it. so its right for Australia" First ad I have seen for The Holden Commodore ZB.

I think it is the opposite, it was easier to built Focus in Thailand and import it Tarif free.
