Spotify for me, $12 a month. Download as much as I want and listen offline and my wife uses the same account one listens online, works for me.

Got rid of all my old CDs last year, was hard to do but I doubt I’ll use a CD again

download from torrents, its much easier. i try with apple and spotify, i had to get accounts and jump through hoops, and i had trouble navigating. you would think if they selling something that they would make it easy, i try to put in a pass word for a new account and its says that its to weak, blaa blaa blaa. totally over the top. sometimes i get cds off ebay, as my landcruiser has a cd player

I don't download but stream using Spotify. Got sick of going through Youtube (especially for old songs) so got a 3 month trial and at least for me they have any song I search for. Pretty good for $12/m

I used to use Torrents, but many are blocked now,

I don't download much if any now but when i do I just convert a you tube clip for free.
using one of the many sites works fine for now..

vidtomp3 is free so long as there is a video for the song on YT ..Albums too.

https://beemp3s.net/vidtomp3.html ..

I've loaded maybe 80 songs on my devices this way. Sometimes one sound track will not load from one clip but will from another . Only drawback .

Re albums ..I loaded the entire best hits of Little River Band this way too ..Very quick and easy as well . Doesn't cost a cent because it's audio off You Tube which is freely accessible to all of course . Find a video of the desired song , highlight and copy the address and then paste the address in the box on VidToMP3 site . Then click on Download Mp3 . It'll almost always then load it in your downloads . Once it's there you can play via your computer or send to any compatible device including your phone ..Give it a try .

It might be me but I fired up Spotify for the first time at work today and it seems the radios are different between mobile and desktop apps. I had a lot more random songs on the mobile app.

Anyways that would be my only criticism of Spotify is the radios seem to have a bunch of songs and repeat them after you go through them but with a new song every second one or so.

A seedbox is storage space on a server somewhere in the world that you remote into via your web browser. They usually provide extremely quick speeds to download and upload as well. I use wicked servers with 2tb of storage

This enables me to download from both private and public torrent sites with a fair degree of safety and speed.

I then sort out the files into Plex ( or DL them to the correct folder to start with so its all fairly automated)

Plex is a piece of streaming software that allows you to watch the films or play the music on any device with the plex app and logged in. you can share folders with friends so they can watch it as well whenever they want.

If I want the files on my local computer I ftp into the server using filezilla and download it direct to my local computer. No fear of tracking this way.

I stream from spotify and i paid the subscription. Main reason is my phone plan has free data for spotify. I hardly use it, but sometimes in the car it comes in handy.

Yeah that was back in the day. Things have progressed so far from the 56k modem. When my family first got the interweb it was something like a 2k modem and it was only for my old man to send electronic letters called emails. Internet was expensive in the early 90s. Its a staple these days. I dont even bother with adsl or anything like that, the 4g network is well sufficient for me and mobile data is cheap .
