Has anybody on this forum built a air tight garage for their car?

One of the guys at work has a car stored in a Plastic Inflatable Capsule in his garage and is happy with it.

I haven't heard of a Plastic Inflatable Capsule. Does the air pump run constantly, and the air is filtered?

I have a fully sealed, self supported car tent..... to do a dust free garage, i'd imagine you'd need a filtered, pressurised set-up of some sort...…….

Its more to keep the salt air out. We are moving near a beach, and I'm a bit worried with the existing garage, which has a panel lift door, that it will let plenty of salt air in.

You would need to have a filtered air service into the garage, to pressurise the air out so when you open the garage the air blows out.

And an “Air curtain” at the openings. Commonly found at the entry in servos and shopping centres the blow a stream of air down that allows you to have the door open and retain the conditioned air in, and ambient air out.

Or. Don’t move near the beach!

I get what you're on about. I hate the huge gaps all around the panel lift in my new place too. I've always had roller doors previously.

I plan on getting these brush seals soon. They are more designed to keep embers, leaves and vermin out but I think they would seal against an excess of salty air as well. Though not be air-tight.

I would think parking in the open is the biggest problem with salt air as parking a vehicle in a closed garage should offer adequate protection.

This is mine..... has a couple of 12v fans to pressurise, but have never needed to use, as it stays dust free.

The 'Drive-In' model would be the one to get. Self supporting frame makes getting in and out much easier and practical. I'd have it connected to a solar panel on the garage roof so it doesn't cost anything to run.

The gaps on ours aren't bad, 20-25mm, I used foam draught tape, seals close to air tight. Cost under 50 bucks and has made a marked difference to dust, sand and moisture in the garage.

The panel lift garage door brackets at place that we have bought have a fair bit of surface rust on them. I noticed other things in the garage made from metal, also had signs of rust.

Fair enough, just another thought if you consider these inflatable car cocoons being mentioned is that they will only have normal dust filters only, you will need a different type filter system for salt air because that is what you will be pumping in.
Best of luck with a solution as I cannot think of anything to combat salt contamination.

I have a place 180m from the water where I keep a couple of cars. My place gets absolutely blasted with salt winds and my front door, windows and gates have rusted out within 5 years of being new. I've used the draught tape as another poster above and I think it's done enough so far. No visible difference inside to an inner suburban garage.

Are your cars old school, or modern FG50T?
