hey all
ive been having issues with my focus tdci latley the engine has been running rough when i start the car shakes for about 10 to 20 mins, last week the car wouldnt start, it would crank but not fire sounded like it wasnt getting any diesel. i removed the fuel line before the filter, and cranked the engine it was completly dry, so i pumped some diesel into the line then pumped it back out and its starting flowing again its been fine since, but still have the shaking and rough idle. ive pluged the car into the scanner there are no codes, im assuming its the in tank fuel pump which is the issue, if so how much would a replacement be? ive heard that the fuel pump needs to be coded to the car? what you guys think could it be the fuel pump or something else? maybe the lines or feeder sock in the tank is partlally blocked? thanks any help would be appracited. |

Maybe you had a bad bunch of diesel fuel. Used to only put Caltex Vortex and BP Ultimate in mine.
Might be a job for diesel injection specialists. That's where I took mine after putting 91 in it. Didn't do it any harm. ran it for another 50000kms still went like a train at 278000kms when I traded it on an LZ. |

I recently had the fuel tank out of my 2008 focus LT TDCI to help in diagnosing a fuel problem (metal filings in the fuel filter) and found there is no fuel pump in the tank. Only the fuel pickup and fuel gauge sender unit.
