ive seen it done by filling the cylender with air (as in with a fitting in the spark plug hole using a compressor)so the valve doesnt drop down.....if you cant get use of the propper tool for it

proper tool only compresses the valve spring so you can get it off.
you still need to fill the cylinders with something to prevent the valve from falling into the cylinder.

if u dont have a compressor, u can feed rope down the spark plug hole like a fiar bit of it, and gently wind the motor untill it stops , This is pushing the piston up against the rope and the rope against the valves holding them tight. Then u can use the tool to compress the valve springs and remove the collets..

Make sure u have the rocker gear of but leave the cam and gear on. This way is only really usefull if u dont have an air compressor as it takes ages

using a rope would be a bit dodgy wouldn't it? you get dirt and tiny little strands in there.

I did all 12 of mine using the compressed air method. Worked a treat. I was ИИИИting bricks the nights before and had nightmares that I dropped a valve :(

$100 - $150 for labour I reckon, tops. You may even get it done cheaper.

the tool is easly made with an old spark plug and bronze a bit of tube on to it and an air fitting the actual spring compressor can be bought at any good tool shop bearing wholesalers ect.

why not just push the piston to TDC. Valve can only fall 5mmish
