Default Roy Repp - Was there any real Australian Connection?

A lot of pictures on the Internet (e.g. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2015/0...del-t-that-is/ and https://monovisions.com/roy-repp-and-his-stunt-car/ ) claim Roy was an Australian but the evidence suggests otherwise especially http://www.motorsportmemorial.org/fo...1_YwvjlbZ7eraA His name also does not come up if you do a search of old Australia newspaper in Trove (not even births). Does anyone have any hard evidence he was an Australian or even spent any time here?

He seems to have been very famous in his day and I have stumbled across mention of him in various motoring books, magazines and web pages. I think I first found mention of him on Shorpy here: https://www.shorpy.com/node/1265 But, in any event, he would have been well before all forum member's time so, even if was a famous Australian, most of us may still not have heard of him. It just puzzles me where the reference to "an Australian stunt driver" came about.
