Default Mass Airflow Meter

I want to cut the lumpy bit out of the middle. I've attached a couple of photos. I just want to leave it as just the tube and get rid of the vertical. The beast will be getting re-programmed so it shouldn't matter cause I'm going for an after market PC made in China.

I do not know if it is necessary for the capacity of my engine, I only have flow with ported E7s.& E303 What I'm trying to say is, how restrictive is the airflow meter, cause when I look at the 55mm to the (I think) 68mm there's not a huge difference with the big lumpy thing in the middle.

its not restricting anything, there are guys in teh states running silly times with the standard 55mm maf in place still... untill you get some decent heads, it wont be an issue

just leave it till you can get an aftermarket maf and injectors....
