Default [SYD] Country Trains Terminal - Parking

I’ve been trawling the internet and can’t be certain of currency in what is about.

Is there any short term parking now available near the country terminal? You used to be able to get quite close but I realise the tramlines have impacted on this and possibly security concerns have affected things, too. I’m needing to drop a vulnerable person off one day (into the care of a waiting group) and collect them another.

The mission has only been made clear to me this evening, I will be trying to get some sense from the relevant body tomorrow (Transport NSW) but confidence is low! Real world recent experiences would be appreciated.

As of April 2019 there is still a limited supply of parking in front of the station entrance.

Access only via hard left from Pitt St immediately prior to the George St lights. Due to light rail construction works the easiest approach I found was along Chalmers St, left into what’s left of Eddy Ave, then left into Pitt St and second lane from the kerb until past the temporary coach stops - heave left as you see the George St intersection coming up. Trying to start further up Pitt St might pose some challenges in itself.

Parking is currently free. There are “2P Ticket” signs but it is patrolled for now by coppers and they told me the machines are gone. Explains why I couldn’t find any.

Bottom line is, if you need to assist someone onto or from a long distance train service, access is still pretty good. I’m sure that means it will be “improved” sooner than later...

July 2019 Changes

There remains a drop-off/pick up zone almost outside the entrance portico, it’s probably three cars long with lazy parking and four if they crunch up. There’s a couple of similar spots on the opposite side of the roadway loop in the parking area.

Still heaps of construction vehicles parking ad-hoc and no apparent policing of zones - despite a consistently large number of police vehicles.

The “2P Ticket” signs are replaced by “P 15 Minute” signs.

In summary, the practical outcome hasn’t really changed.

Wasn't there parking up the ramp to the south of the main façade entrance.

I believe that’s something like “Construction Vehicles Only” or cabs or somesuch at the moment.

Full marks for the cedilla.

There's always Chalmers St, on the other side via the underground walkway.

I wonder how much longer this tram line is going to be fully open. What a c**k up.
