Question AU Airbags

Just a quick question, do the airbags still work if the ignition is turned off? IE: if the car is sitting in a carpark and it is hit would the airbags go off? or do they need the ignition to be on before they work?

I'm pretty sure the car has to be travelling at greater than 40km/h before the airbags will activate. So, no. They shouldn't go off in a car park with or without ignition on.

They won't go off when stationary but they do have a battery backup in case you are in a smash and the battery lines get cut.
