I wasn't sure where to post this thread. It is in response to Tezza's thread in the Everest forum, but I think it is applicable to all cars, although Everest and Ranger are probably the ones most people are fitting bullbars to at the moment
https://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11476672 not all bullbars are created equal! Never personally having bought or fitted a bullbar to a car I own, I honestly don't really understand what features people look for when choosing one. whether it is looks and styling, strength, ability to add winches and lightbars etc they are all important, but there is one feature which I think often gets overlooked please consider how much the bullbar blocks the front grills. the Everest and Ranger are very capable tow vehicles, but as Tezza's thread shows, blocking the grill openings can have a pretty serious influence on the ability of the car to keep itself cool when towing especially on hot days. Whether you choose to fit a bar from TJM, ARB, Uhmars, or whoever please do yourself a favour and talk to them about how much development work they have done and whether their bars will affect the engine and transmission cooling. |

I see such idiotic placements of lightbars. Often in the lower air intakes... madness.
Designers/engineers spend days finessing airflow that for final couple of percent improvement to cooling to the engine and transmission.. then people slap a 40 inch lightbar in the air intake |

I have been down that road with general inquiries from bull bar manufacturers who all have responded that their bull bars are well designed for the Rangers. What do you think they are going to say! that their product is going to overheat your vehicle or cause other problems. They will tell you what you want to hear and that is their product is suitable for your ranger or everest. Cheers. |
