Question Clarification required about non-Ford discussions on this forum

A thread which had a lot of posts about COVID-19 was closed because a moderator said "this is a Ford forum" and used that as justification to prevent further discussion.

Which begs me to ask; if moderators can close threads which are not about Ford, why does AFF cater for non-Ford discussions such as the "Non Ford Related Community Forums"?

The Covid-19 thread needed to be killed, not even a picture of me with bikini girls could change the way blokes were foaming off at the mouth.

Why not volunteer yourself as a moderator?

If it is too difficult then they should pass the responsibility to another person.

Should AFF kill off altogether the "Non Ford Related Community Forums"?

The discussion was pretty tame i thought. People disagreed but it was hardly a ****fight. I’ve seen much worse mud slinging remain open. Didn’t think it was even close to being worthy of a thread lock.

I really don't get that. If you don't like what's being said don't read it. I find some of the stuff posted on this forum infuriating, but I mostly ignore it. It's only flipping type..tapped in by someone you probably don't know and will never meet.

I thought the C19 thread was amusing, sometimes informative and generally well contained...pun intended...

I for one would like to see it keep going.

I am less keen on the mental health stuff on this forum. I don't agree you can abuse people then claim mental health issues and suddenly all is forgiven, nor do I agree that random people on this forum should be giving life advice to people with diagnosed MH problems. But having said that I don't get up on my soapbox about it, I don't call for change, I just add names to my ignore list...

I have never looked at the thread.
I think that says something.
Why not have a politics or Religion thread.....what could go wrong?

I'm surprised the Covid19 Thread survived as long as It Did....

I'm Admin on another Forum, & Thanks to "Tin foil Hat wearing conspiracy theorists" We've had to shut them Down.
We also had a Long running "Bushfire" Thread shut for the same reasons..!!!
