Question EF Vaccum Problem With Vents

Hello,

Am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I am having.

My EF Fairmont has started to make a sucking noise, most evident behind the glove box and also in the engine bay up next to the MAP Sensor. The aircon does work but only blows to the windscreen even if its set to blow on your face.

I havent done any work inside the car recently so I doubt I have dislodged a vaccum hose or anything like that. I have just had the head redone but unfortunately I have been told it was doing it before the car went in to get the head worked on, I don't remember either way to be honest, all I know is it's not working now.

Does anyone have an idea of where to look or start with this? I have checked everything obvious, and can't see any missing or disconnected hoses at all.

Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks

Markus

It will definently be a vacuum hose has come off behind the dash. I believe you have to take the dash off - big job. Good luck!

My climate control unit had a vaccum hose come off the back that made a real bad noise. I just removed the facia and then the screws that held the unit together. Real easy. Sounds like your issue might be a little more complicated thatn that. Just start taking screws out and keep track of where they came from!

Check the connections near the firewall first, should find them up on the right hand side of the engine bay.

Otherwise to get the dash off you have to pull all the trims off, the dash out, the underside panels, then unbolt it. I suggest you pickup a manual that displays the order.

Ive got to do the same with mine, my center vents dont work. I havent had to do one in 2 years (last time working for ford) and the last one took me nearly 2 days at work to replace.
