The 1932 model 18 Ford V8 origins
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RB3z1er9Sw It's another thing you didn't know about Henry Ford. During the great depression he sacked much of his workforce and drove dealers to the wall and didn't give a crap; just so he could make a simple and cheap V8 later on to take on chev |

Tape deck.
When he puts the shaft in his hand it feels really natural, like he has been doing it for years.

Old Henry was certainly some innovator, eh? All materials made in-house.. Ford ships, Ford trains, Ford power station... Mind boggling how all this was achieved pre CAD, CNC era. The man-handling of cranks, blocks etc, and minimal machinery guarding... Imagine the OH&S feast nowadays! Truly Incredible era!!

yes an innovator, this engineers were the first to cast a one piece v8 block. its interesting watching the old work standards.
a good documentary is the one about bruce mclaren , it goes on to show how he started in NZ and went to europe , and his death. he designed and raced his own cars. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5031332/ but i watch any shows on any engine. |

Honda K Series engine
Check out how over engineered they are - roller rockers, twin cams with multiple profiles changeable on oil pressure/RPM, variable valve timing etc. This thing uses a modified Honda K series I believe: http://quantumgp700.com.au/ Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 08-06-2020 at 07:25 PM. |

The Germans, their cars, and Us:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rv6T9S2rIM A mix of the success of the German car industry in the UK, and the total clusterfrack of the UK's own industry and quality at the time. One point stands out to me, when they mention the Mini - when the hot seller is a smaller, cheaper micro car, it implied that the people are becoming less wealthy.
