Default Telstra DNS Outage

Good afternoon

There is currently a widespread DNS outage affecting Telstra Bigpond users (ADSL or NBN).

For those who have access to their broadband router you can change the WAN/LAN Settings to amend the DNS server from the Telstra default to Google DNS servers (8.8.8.0).

Cheers
Russ

Default Re: Telstra DNS Outage

Other good DNS solutions include a "protective DNS" from Quad 9 (9.9.9.9), which includes a threat intelligence to block web sites that are potentially malicious. (I use 9.9.9.9 as my DNS lookup, combined with a Pi Hole, for most of my general web browsing.)

The other alternative is Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 DNS, which is promoted as faster than Google 8.8.8.8..
