Default Driving classic cars during lockdown (VIC)

Hey guys are we allowed to take our classic falcons for a spin during lockdown in Melbourne ?

This is all I could find on it but wanted to make sure :

Can I go for a drive for leisure purposes if I don't leave the car?

Yes, you may go for a drive if you're a resident within the lockdown areas, but you must remain within the lockdown area and you must not leave your vehicle for any purpose outside the four approved reasons.

Isn't the advice 'essential travel only'. If you are taking it to 'essential' work, to the doctors or to buy food then I think you are supposed to stay home, regardless of what car you drive

There are no restrictions on the type of car you can drive. I could drive my H plated Valiant to work everyday if I wanted too.

ummm, he was asking about lock-down, not 'every day'

but technically there is no reason you can't drive your old car, however are you supposed to in the lock down?

No, you are not allowed to go for any leisurely drive in lock down however nothing stopping you to use your classic car for the reasons as outlined below.
Cheers.

Shop for food and essential goods or services.
Provide care, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment.
For work or study, if you can't do it from home.

This from the Department of health and human services Vic.

Can I get out of the house and just go for a drive?

Yes, however this can only be undertaken within metropolitan Melbourne or Mitchell Shire, and should not involve leaving your vehicle for any purpose except for the four reasons (shopping for necessary goods or services, care, caregiving or compassionate reasons, exercise, and work or study).

No, the whole point is you do not drive or go out of your dwelling unless for those reasons you mention.
Yes, anywhere in Victoria except Melbourne or Mitchelll Shire then you can.

I asked this question to DHHS a couple of weeks ago. Below was their response. Only additional item to Officermanager's list is Exercise. They seem to be quite responsive to questions asked via FB chat, which is great. But they should update the info on their website.

"Hi, under the current restrictions it is not possible to just go out for a drive. You have to be leaving the house for one of four reasons:
Shopping for food or other essential items
To provide care giving, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment
For exercise (outdoor exercise only, with only one other person or members of your household)
Work or study, if you cannot work or study from home
Otherwise, you must stay home."

Website not updated with that info and it has been weeks. The mind boggles

Rumour has it we will get an unmistakable set of rules starting Wed. Limit will likely be 5kms around your home.

??????????? Even out of Covid I didn't think this was legal. otherwise everyone would transfer their rego to Historic permit scheme onto their work cars.
isn't going to work (ie earning money) the same as using it for profit.

wrong, driving to work is not for 'hire or reward', unless you are a tradie for example and carrying your tools, even that could be grey. I am VP/Treasurer/Scrutineer of a Vicroads approved car club

I drive my to my office job occasionally, NOT used for 'hire or reward', what you are saying is just incorrect, you are stretching a long bow. Technically your work time doesn't start until you get to work, even by TAC/WorkCover rules

So you are saying you can drive it to work everyday. Is that right ?
