Disliked: engine stop start was annoying. Clutch in, engaged it. I reckon it would chew through batteries over time. Handling, a bit nose heavy, understeery feeling compared to the AWD Terry.
Overall quite enjoyable. No manual option anymore.

& CVT auto only.
Thanks for the info, its a big help. She currently drives an older Subaru sedan which is on its last legs, but she is a AWD convert now and would say the Terry is too big. The XV is the only one we have seen that has a low load height at the rear, so many have 4WD heights it seems. The Hyper Blue is a great colour, and they're well priced considering.

Sorry!... I’ve taken this way off topic!
But we also have a 2014 Rav4.. (and I hated Toyota fridges!)
Handles everything we’ve thrown at it and nice to drive.

Righto. So I test drove the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line.

My thoughts:

- ....meh

Nice car, but... I think I'm getting more sensible these days. It's got some cool features, like digital dashboard and all that. But seeing past the hype and wow factor - It's kind of pointless having the digital dash. Yeah, it's nice. But aside from displaying the sat-nav in there if you like, there's nothing that useful about it really. The rest of the car is kind of underwhelming. Don't get me wrong - it IS nice. But for approx. $4-6k less, you get the exact same kit (sands the digital dash) AND a ton more on the highest spec Skoda, plus 5 years warranty and 2 extra seats. Plus the guys at VW wouldn't budge a CENT on the VW. Plus the manager was a dead set **** wit.

So as far as sensibilities go, instead of following my heart, I'm following my head this time. The VW is nice, but it's smaller inside and missing a lot of the handy practical stuff of the Skoda. I am torn, because I dig the VeeDub, but the Skoda is the right choice.

So I think we're going to order a Steel Grey Skoda Kodiaq Sportline on Wednesday most likely

If we do go down this path, then I'll do a solid write up on the car with a ton of pics when we get it so all ya'll who aren't Skoda savvy can see what the fuss is about.

Bang for buck, it makes a lot of sense to me.

Cheers.

FYI, the Skoda Karoq I mentioned back in post 33 will be the first Skoda that also has the digital dash/cluster.

That's if you're prepared to wait and a smaller Skoda suits.

Yes I had thought about the Karoq, however after being impressed with the boot size and roomy interior of the Kodiaq I don’t think I want to go smaller now. The VW Tiguan is considerably smaller than the Forester in boot space and inside, so that was a big downside for me. I might do some research on the Karoq anyway just out of curiosity.

Update.......
Having been away on hols last week we didn't see the CX5 delivered till yesterday arvo.
I can't deny its quality for the price point.
Had a good looking over it and it sure is well made and the Dealer attention to detail is commended.
I had applied the Protektiv paint protection and the thing "pops" in machine grey.
Matched with Protektiv Tint it looks so damn classy my Mrs's is overwhelmed.
More so due to the tech lesson she was getting from the Fleet Manager - that I have to say was done brilliantly by him, I would have lost the plot with her very fast lol......
Took it for it first drives last night and for the wife's duties its perfect !
Seats are great, interior space is quite generous imo.
Smooth on the road.
Suspension I feel is sporty - not sloppy which is my pref for starters, it won't feel like a boat.
Lights are great !
As mentioned by Swanny, alot to learn these cars have alot of tech for the reasonable bucks paid.
I recommend a new Mazda if inclined I'm impressed.

Great to hear. They are a good car and there is reason why they are the top selling SUV on the market currently. There must be something in the air, I just picked up my new car yesterday also. :P

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I personally think its a cool little car. Still manages to do everything I need it to. Easy to park, safety features galore, can go off road quite capably and rides great. It isn't a powerhouse as you know, but gets up to the speed limit noticeably better than the previous version it superseded. Feels stiffer in corners, doesnt float about. Steering is quite responsive. Getting used to driving it quite quickly.
