Default timing on e-series... w/ bigger cam

hey all....

whats the way to go with spark timing on our cars..

what is everyones experiences on timing on aftermarket cams especially?

i was running at 21deg BTDC, and advanced further... runs fine no ping...


anywayz.. any comments?

i think mine may be up around 26 degrees and i've never had problems. stock xr6 cam though and i always run ultimate. i reckon it would ping its guts off on 91RON.

How are you checking the deg of advance? Have you marked your own TDC on the balancer? Its very common for the cars to slip the balancer and give you an incorect reading. This said. When i had EEC incontrol of the engine i had 20deg BTDC dialed in as static timing.

well was 21deg BTDC when it was put on the dyno.. since then ive advanced it more after i put new cam in...

I have high compression aftermarket cam and my mechanic at one stage had 44deg advance.

We then backed it off to 39deg advance and I run ultimate.

Chiptorque were pussys with the timing in the chip so we did it the old fashioned way :Reverend: :thebirds: : :monkes:
