Default sump plug

Hi all, can anyone tell me why we have to replace the sump plug every oil change is it just the O ring or is there some other reason. NPS

Because it a bit of cheap one time use plastic per https://www.ebay.com.au/p/18022014642 and https://www.connect-consumables.co.uk/product/31775

And Allan says, it's a bung rather than a plug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq4c...nel=AlanHowatt

In any event. a modern "innovation" I see as an environmentally unfriendly down grade. I guess it's saving grace it would be virtually impossible to cross thread it.

I can also envisage that at some point the drive for the lowest cost replacement bung will also see some Chinese made clone come on the market that isn't sufficiently heat resistant and deforms when hot dropping a sump load of oil.
