Default Strange Noise

We have a 2010 Mondeo Wagon Petrol....

We have a strange noise emanating from the engine....

Only does it when you put it into Drive....like a whining noise...

We had it at our local mechanic to change the Transmission fluid & filter the other day....No different.

But now you also hear a rattle, like you are in too high a gear in a manual car....

Local mechanic doesnt know what the noise is.

If its the Transmission, what sort of cost is involved in fixing that sort of problem?

Funny , the noise seems to come more from towards the right of the car....

If its the gear box, would the noise becoming from the middle more....

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers

If it's from the right side, it's not the auto. Does it make the noise as soon as you shift to D? You could get someone to do that while you listen with the bonnet open. Just make sure you stand to the side of the car.

I've had a petrol MA and it was generally a very quiet drivetrain.

Have your mechanic or go to a more qualified mechanic to verify if it's the engine mount? Cracked mounts will do this.

Yes, as soon as it goes into drive you can hear it, & it gets louder as you accelerate....cuts down as soon as you lift your foot....

What about the rattle, that sounds like you are in too high a gear in a manual?

Thanks for the reply.
