Default Fine Yesterday

...but today my Mondy won't start.

It just comes up with Mobilizer Active.

I have not done anything to it since parking it and turning it off.

Unlike a similar problem recently where the wheel was rigidly locked and a jerk of it freed it up. Not this time and just get the Mobilizer Active display.

Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

Hmmmmm. This may ba a dumb statement, but have you tried the second key incase the transponder in the 1st has crapped out for some reason.

Not yet but it is is a lot older and not been

used for ages.

Will try it if I find it.

I even locked and unlocked the car with its regular key and no problems except for as I described earlier. TIA

jUST TRIED AGAIN WITH THE REGULAR KEY AND NO LUCK.(HAVE TO FIND SPARE KEY(Damn Caps Lock)

Still says Mobilizer Active. It allowed me into Setting and allowed me to check messages. Which told me hill start activated!

The last time I had a start problem(different and solved) I also had a doctors appointment. Hopefully this one can be solved by 9am tomorrow. Damn Flu shot.

Humour me and remove the positive terminal at the battery and negative post on the chassis. Then connect it and try again.

I get an engine immobiliser fault come up in my Falcon every so often.

The first time I had it towed to a mechanic and he started it first pop without any fault. Every time after that I've towed it a few hundred metres down the road myself and its cleared up and started.

Something in the vicinity of my work is interfering with the car, reading up on it, apparently it happens quite often.

Could be the same in your case maybe?

I just took a call from a mate I haven't spoken to in ages and he gave me something to try.

I will try this in the morning and that is use the key to manually unlock the door. The push the shift button and try the ignition. I think that was the jist of it but unfortunately he had to cut short the call and may have to call him back in the morning. He is not a mechanic but has been a senior manager of a Toyota dealership and was trained by Toyota.

Cobrin shall try your suggestion also. Thx

Just went to try the key idea and bugger me the battery was as flat as a tack.

Nothing was left on and as far as I knew the battery was fine yesterday.

A pain getting to open boot with no power to retrieve the charger. It was parked the wrong way round in the driveway. Grrrr

Good news is the battery was bought from local Ford dealer in Sept 2019 and I noticed it was still under it's 2 year warranty.

Will give it a try about midday after 24hrs on charge but not that hopeful and then tackle the Ford dealer.

Start by connecting to the on board diagnostic connector with a code reader.

It's not an expensive exercise and easy enough to do, help available here.

Immobiliser active state might be be a fault in the ABS system for example. OBD2 should raise a fault in that case.

As for the battery, mine with Ford smart charge is usually about 12.2V in the cigar lighter even after a long run. I read it's supposed to be maintained at 80% soc, which is a bit higher open circuit , maybe 12.5V.. Main thing is a healthy crank, when the volts go to about 9.5 on mine normally.

I will do that but have found the initial problem of the flat battery. Or part of it. It started okay after being overnight on a trickle charger. So drove to the Ford dealer to get a new battery fitted under warranty. It was there I noted that a front RHS parking light was on and would not go out. Asked a service guy and he couldn't work out why. Thankfully it didn't stop me getting the new replacement battery.

Drove to Aldi stocked up and went home and reversed up the driveway this time. I have not checked it this morning but will not be surprised if flat battery again. Grrr

It is only the one parking light staying on and hopefully as a temporary fix will try and disconnect it. Not a good week for money but will need the car for medical reasons.

Scratches head but at least know why flat battery now but not what is causing this one light not to go out.

If not a circuit fault (short to 12V) it can be the GEM or BCM (which does the switching of the lights with solid state devices (AKA transistors, MOSFETS)).

There's a test procedure in the Ford manual for the exact symptom of one parking light always on.


To tell if it's the GEM or the circuit you disconnect a particular connector from the GEM and if it's still on then it's the circuit, otherwise it' the GEM.

No luck. It started Saturday and I drove the tiny distance to the end of the driveway and stupidly turned the lights on and it stalled. I then tightened up the terminals and again started it to reverse back to its normal parking spot. To test again I turned the lights on and off. She stalled!

Disconnected battery and put the trickle charger back on and there it has stayed.

I called an auto sparky when they opened this morning only to be told they are booked out for a few days. Then called a Ford dealer out of frustration to be told they to are booked out until Friday. Have made a booking for them to pick it up then.

Question. How much do you think this pick up will cost?(About 5klms) I was too flustered to ask.

Please excuse my raving as too much of this nightmare is beginning to get to me.

I called the Ford dealer to ask about the cost of this valet service of picking up and returning my car.

The good news it is FREE!

Introduced last year due to the 5klm limit allowed from home due to covid-19 lockdown in Victoria.

Roll on Friday. Miss not having a car.

It is fixed!

Ford dealer had picked up my car yesterday morning and returned it at 5.30pm and all back to normal. At this stage and hoping it stays okay. Yet to start it this morning but confident it will.

In a nutshell they...

"CHECKED AND TESTED CARRIED OUT BCM UPDATES AS REQUIRED. RESET FULL SYSTEM AND TESTED BATTERY AND CHARGE RATE ALL OKAY"

Nice to finally not have that damn Engine Management symbol finally gone. Has been there for years.

All up $320 but a relief all seems back to normal. Service dept rang me to say it was done and started with making the point after 4 hours working on it all was done.(Cough cough)
