Hi All,
Anyone got any idea on what this high pitch metal on metal sound in the background might be? Its noticeable when im going straight, but worse if i turn left, and pretty much goes when im turning right. Braking doesnt seem to have an impact from what i can tell. Its coming from the front left wheel (passenger side). Thanks in advance (its the noise in the background that kinda sounds like two metal dishes rubbing...? ) https://soundcloud.com/chris-barre-2...V9XZdXjJhH6N-A |

Could be the cv shaft rubbing against the seal or even the hub? You need it up in the air so you can spin the wheel and listen & inspect.

it is also possible you have failing carrier bearing in the hub, check play in the wheel when jacked up.

I had an earlier model focus that had a high pitched sound that changed when turning as well.
It turned out to be a piece of brake pad had fallen out and lodged itself between the rotor and brake shielding. Might be worth checking nothings stuck in there somewhere. |
