Interesting clip on one of the Johnson built Sierra RS500s from a pretty authoritive collector of the cars.
It kicks off at about 4:00 when its started and brought out of storage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ_V_lOOd1I

I loved it back then when Johnson built a quicker Sierra than the Factory Eggenberger's.

yes great time in that Sierra, how they got that thing going so well was kudos to them and even going over there from memory and blowing their socks off.

In 1987 DJR had quite a few problems with the cars but in the following years until it was phased out at the end of 1992, the team had unquestionably the best developed and the quickest cars. They had done their homework well. Driven superbly and a fantastic team with great sponsorship. They were the only cars able to stand against the formidable GT-R which by then had arguably overtaken the Sierra in the technology stakes but still Johnson and Bowe ran with them, pushing them hard. I loved those cars- certainly my favourite DJR cars.

I believe that this is a fellow called Paul Linfoot who owns this car now. He sometimes posts in a FB group I’m in.
I met Dick at his house, after he’d finished his 5am gym sesssion, to discuss the theft of a number of racing go karts from his garage (while he was away at Bathurst). He was into the EB’s then, and he sounded like he saw them as a tool of the trade. Nice bloke to talk to.
