hay quick ?, has anyone takin the bump strip's of the side of there car/ute
mine are colour coded but the paint is startin to peel off n was thinkin of takin em off just wanted to no if anyone had done it and what lay beneath?  : |

I'm pretty sure people have done this. If you do want to do it there will be locator holes underneath the bump strip left in your doors that will need to be patched up. You would prob be better off just getting them sprayed again. :voldar02:

I Have The Problem Of 1 Sides Stripes Coming Off.
I Put Them Back On With Double Sided Tape, But They Peeled In About A Week. Originally, It Was Some Type Of Silicon ? ( Like Silicon But Firmer ) Anyone Know What Binder Should Be Used To Reattach Them Permenantely? |

Go to your local paint shop and ask for urethane, last time I bought some it was available in white and dark grey/black. Literally stick sh*t to a blanket with that stuff. It is what is originally used.

ABOUT TIME!!! i have an answer
 Where do i buy it and how much? both my drivers one are coming off and ihave the same problem! All diffrent types of tape glues etc and they all peel  But the car will be spreyed again in a few years so they should hold till then

you can also buy the rolls of like thick black tarr double sided tape (about 1.5mm thick x just a bit thinner than the stips on the doors, that stuff is stong as , its like the stuff originally used , get in most auto shops, sorta sounds like the stuff your describing above except it comes on a roll .

Use sikaflex and preposol to wipe up any that spreads onto the paint

Selleys "All Clear" works well too, and for a fraction of the price of sikaflex or urathane. Liquid Nails would probably do the job too. Stick it on, use tape to hold it in place, and leave it dry for 12 hours or so.

You clean the panel and strip with preposol and then wipe both with a clean cloth. Then run double sided tape on the top and bottom of the strip and then put good dabs of stickaflex on. Use the grey stuff the white stuff does not stick as well. Use 2 people when putting the strip on so one can hold one end where it matches the strip on the front guard and then pull on the strip to get it straight and then lay the rest of the strip onto the door. You only get one go at this and if you stuff it you will have to start from scratch again with new tape. You can use silicone such as Selleys all clear, Dow corning construction grade 901 ( i think from memory) And one other brand but they have to be acid free. Most silicones are acid cure. So silicone will work and does stick well except when you start to use a tar remover or preposol to clean your car and then it starts to remove the silicone.( etimated life maybe 6 weeks) Dont use liquid nails you will kill yourself for it. since its under hot and cold it starts to expand and in the end your strip will be about 3 to 5 mm off the panel and you will be trying to use a razor blade or knife in behind the strip to cut it free to fix it. ( estimated life 3 to 5 months ) Not worth the hassle. Best use for liquid nails is filling a garbage bin. The strips originally just use 2 strips of double sided tape but once the strip has come off a bit and starts getting a bow in it the tape is not always strong enough by its self to keep the strip on. Thats why you also use stickafelx with the tape. Tape helps hold it down while the stickaflex cures. How well it works will depend on how much of a bow your strip has. If its a big bow throw it away and buy a new strip.
