Default Farcebook

be careful what you say.
saw an paid advert for a new mattress, about being the product of the year.....
my comments related to who voted it, how many were paid to vote and other comments along those lines.

30 minutes later I have over 20 different paid adds for bloody mattresses.

So did you buy it?

Its not just FB. A lot of platforms are doing it, its their main form of monetising. If you don't edit your settings, then things likes your search history and chats will be used to feed you ads they think you want to see.

FB use to have an option that allows you to select "don't track, just send me random ads instead", not sure if its still there.

Mainly use FB for marketplace and to organise events. I stay away from commenting on posts not made by people I know.

Don't be negative. Sleeping Duck Mattresses are excellent. The votes and comments, just like a Judge Judy show, are real.

But you remind me of my Dad. His Facebook is logged in on the Chrome browser on the computer. The same computer and browser I use to do all my work and research on.

Whatever I look for today he is bombarded with tomorrow. When he gets home he says "got all this sh*t today. Didn't look for it. Where did it come from?"

This is why I only click on ads for swimwear and lingerie. Beat them at their own game.

A good friend once asked me to fix his PC. Windows has shat itself and it needed some delicate fingers to be massaged back to life.

When I got it all fixed I set the Internet Explorer homepage to grannysex.com or something like that.

Turns out it was his mums computer.

As a kid, changing the homepage was a good prank to pull when over at mates houses. I mean yeah, your mate didnt find it funny if they werent the first find out.
But the best was, so in the late 90s, early 2000s at school in the library we had computers and individual logins. So there was net nanny but one bloke worked out a sort of work around. That was the image search on the yahoo. So these days this would be considered bullying, but one girl he didnt get along with went to the bathroom but left the pc logged in. So this bloke looked up porn on the yahoo images on that pc, went and told the teacher and the girl got suspended for a week. Yes a complete dick move, but we all had a laugh.
