Default Hey guys

Old member with new to me 2010 Focus XR5Turbo .
I used to have a BAXT ute 4 on the tree with a Raptor Supercharger and it's finally not worth driving (LOL) , though the motor still uses no oil nor leaks any it's just killed everything attached to it .
So yea I'm after a few bits and knowledge for the newer car basically an air intake and a tune box as it goes quite well . It has a K@N filter but other than that it's bone stock. All I'm after is enough air, timing and fuel to run efficiently.
Will the whole CAI thing be much better just a K@N filter , I think maybe yes but this is my first Focus . And yea maybe a Blue Spark box on a mild setting for me or if there's a Ford factory workshop flash or better tuner box I don't know about which is entirely possible. Not after any arguments between posters just a few insights please.
Got a few bits from the BA I can exchange/sell for parts if anyone is interested , like the whole super charger system , I will post those up in the for sale ASAP.

I had an XR5 Turbo with a few mods, and a lot of my parts came from the UK, there is now suppliers in Aus. If you have FB, search OEM Denied on the Sunny Coast and also XR5/ST owners club (i help admin that page)
A full intake will most certainly be better than just a filter.
Theres a few different options, just depends on how much you want to spend.
Both of which will need the ECU to be relocated (not a big issue)
Ill explain.
The ECU sits in with the airbox from factory
The first option below is the first intake i had, cheaper one. It mounts up to the factory snorkel.

You can now see the ECU bottom left in an ECU holder. Mine also had a cover over it to hide it a little.
Second one, is the second intake i had, bit more coin but overall much better. But they dont like super wet weather puddles as the filter is now down below the LHS headlight. That said i never had any dramas with water ingestion but a few did. Also i had an aftermarket plenum aswell, as some were known to fail once tuned (mostly Focus RS)

I had a Dreamscience tune on mine running a few different tunes. If you are going to up the boost i highly recommend an upgraded intercooler aswell as the factory one suffers real bad in the heat. I had one of these fitted

I also had a Milltek exhaust on mine aswell, the factory one didnt cut it once the above mods were made.
If you decide you want a bit more id highly recommend fitting a Quaife LSD aswell.
As i said a lot of these parts or similar are available in OZ, OEM Denied is a very good mate of mine. You probably wont find a more knowledgeable guy with euro fords than him IMO.
Also these are known to split cylinder liners, but i see you have a 2010 model, IIRC they were a little more hardy. But you'd have to be unlucky for to happen or a pushing big power and not fitted the Block mod which helps stop that

I'll just probably do something like the first picture of your cars evolution .
If I want mental HP/TQ I'll build it myself then It's my own fault if it's undriveable from front axle tramp lol. You got older bits you don't want laying about ?

Nah mate i havnt any bits, i sold it sadly for a new Focus ST.
I do have a thread in this area some where about my XR5T. Some of the pics are AWOL though but feel free to have a look.

Also before any of that, id make sure the service history is all good. Also if the timing belt has been changed if it needs it. Cause if not it'll end up expensive.

Just a quick Q before I scoot does the stock snorkel flow enough air in the top type of set up for the air filter , is it a mild bottle neck at WOFO ?

It'll suffice, but IIRC it is muffled but its been a while so i could be wrong.
The entire standard intake is a bottle neck in my opinion.
I later after fitting that intake (1st one) fitted an alloy top pipe replacing the plastic factory one.

Yup it'll be better than I have by a few killerwasps but nowhere near as good as in the lower picture , I'll do something like the lower picture DIMYself , as I have a 3D printer and I make my own all sorts of things .

I don't think i'd have gone XR5T if not for OEMDENIED with their range of stuff and great pricing, and Jaime's videos on Youtube giving mechanical dungers like myself the ability to do a lot on your own. It's a pretty unique experience compared to most of the cars i've had over the years, also a great guy to deal with. Gets the 'older' gentleman (just a expression, gentleman i aint) over the line in buying what many see as a yobbo car ;) I'm not going nuts with mine by any stretch of the imagination, just 'finessing' it ;) And hitting the audio with my old crap and a single DIN adapter Ahhhh so much more engagement with the older cars. Lovin it.

He knows his stuff like no other, hence why i recommended him. Many years of him looking after the 2 focus i had

I normally buy the bits and do it all myself BUT and it's a big BUT fk these things have tiny spaces right ! LOL's I am a fairly hefty individual and the old BA ute I could get to everything .I can deal with the seats not being wide enough for my back and the side bolsters squeezing my legs shizzle as sooner or later the seat will mold to my shape BUT UNDER THE BONNET my bits don't fit and I don't bend enough either so yea I'll have to make use of my son doing mods on this one.

Shoot I just went to that site and FK me stuff is stupid expensive , I'll just go to a Supercheap and buy some pipe and bend it buy an air filter , hose clips some nuts and bolts to mount the ECU and be done with it. Then get my son to fit it cause like I said I am fairly well built heavy and no bits of me fit in the engine bay.
**** got crazy expensive while I was away .
