My Neighbour has the Superseded model. They are a quality car, however they have flawed dynamics, and the column shifter would drive me insane. The new model has lost the column shifter, and for mine looks to be a Craptiva and CR-V Competitor, with Territory styling in mind. If the old model looked this good, I might have looked into one.

hehe...wen you think about it...Holden have actually brought out an Escape/Tribute Competitor in the Captiva...not a Territory Competitor. lol...

Everything about it including forcasted price indicates it would slot in with the Mid-size AWD more so than the Territory...but i spose thats what you get when an Australian company doesnt do the initial R&D

PS..and whats with the GMH naming convention? Do they give all their Daewoo produced Cars crap names or is it just me??

I think it looks like a good update visually, but I think I might prefer the headlights of the new US one (Edge). Put that with out grill and it would be fine.

That said, this update still seems alright at this stage.

As some are saying, its turning into the mini-Territory, which is all well and good. So where is the mini-Falcon? I reckon it's in development.

Expect the next generation escape to look something like this - Focus based, Europe sourced.

^^now thats a good looking car, the first pic is not.

I think ford globally will be going for that look, doing the whole corporate thing.

US has fusion (I think), Mondeo/Focus for europe, I would expect Australia to finally get it

Possibly not...

Remember that the Euro product has the current Euro front whereas the Escape pic has the new Corporate slatted grill which I think we'll see on all the new platform products - ie Orion

What gets me is that we'll have the Subaru/Toyota/Holden/Ford/Suzuki all selling mid-size AWDs that look nearly identical. I just don't think that 2000-3000 cars a month divided by 5 companies making identical product works.

Those cars aren't built or designed here, only imported and sold, so theres no R&D costs for them here, they sell those models in Europe, Asia and Americas so viability costs in australia are next to nothing.

It just reminds me of the Courier V6 trying to look like an F-Series. The Yanks like chrome when it's not necessary, don't they? I much prefer the older one and hell, column auto ain't that bad, it's column manual that u gotta watch for.

1990? try something like 1985. I've said it before and I will say it again, compared to what the U.S will be getting this facelift looks more dated than the original Escape. From a design perspective I would take one out into the woods and shoot it.
