Default Photo Request Sydney Motor Show 2004/2005

Hi Guys

Looking for photos of the BA and BF F6 Typhoons on display at Sydney Motor Show in 2004 and 2005. There are some great pics on the old FF however the resolution isn't high enough and I'd like to see the build plates on the consoles clearly.

Oct 04 was a Black BA F6

Oct 05 was a Bionic BF F6 ZF

The members who took the photos of the black F6 at SIMS 04 were RATT and FireFox7 who haven't been active on these forums for a number of years.

Ford nailed the BA interior.
The early '00s was a low point in interior design across the board.
Too many buttons, awkward and busy lines. From Range Rover and S Class/7 Series to Mazda 6 and Camry.
The BA Fairmont Ghia/Fairlane or XR luxo pack has aged better than all of them.

I still love how easy it is to adjust HVAC or cruise.

That's the benefit of being so far behind the rest of the world. They got to make a 90s car in the 2000s! All the benefits of conservative styling (after the AU redesign), old tech engine reliability and cabin simplicity, sold 10 years later :-)

They were good new, but sikaflex, tek screws and mackay rubber don't last forever.

After years of trawling I have found a photo of the shifter surround of BF F6 Bionic P0001 console surround clearly confirming the build number. I already knew, but wanted the linkn in the form of a picture.

I now just need to find a thread somewhere with a cleared console pic of the BA.

Now also looking for photos of launch of BF FPV range, which I believe was at You Yangs in late October 2005.

In particular looking for the red BF F6 involved in the photo shoot, and want to see if it's in Blueprint Magazine, or other motoring magazines with it's number plates in place (should be TTC*** potentially).

Pleased to announce that with some laborious detective work I have found the other link / confirmation I was looking for. The elusive build plate at the motor show.

Many thanks to the member of another forum whos name is Craig Murphy or GTMurph.

Hunted down through various wormholes and non working links, then finally Instagram where he replied to a message I sent him. This is what the community is all about

I looked through my photo archive and didn't find a console shot sadly. Check out Whichcar.com.au for old Wheels & Motor articles from that era.

Most of the old Wheels and Motor articles have dropped off the original imagery from the articles.

I have confirmed 5 of 11 BF Mk1 prototypes so far. There was a good historian on Facebook named Nathan who ran a page called FPV Bible. Unfortunately he dropped off the planet around November.

There are 16 BA F6 protos.

It is very unfortunate that this information isn't licensed to someone outside of Ford / FPV Australia if they cannot resource someone who has an enthusiasm about these cars to save the information where available. Unfortunately I don't think anyone heavily involved in the programs themselves at Ford and FPV would know as much as some of the enthusiasts have worked. I tried to reach out to Bernie Quinn directly a couple of times but unfortunately no luck so far. These cars were his 'babies' by all accounts, so it would be nice to get some information about the F6 program on record, and be able to get in touch with some of the people who made it happen, and can assist in sharing information about how the prototypes and their uses.

Thanks.

Thanks mate. I will. Disheartening on occasion when engineers etc don’t respond to messages or when threads go unanswered (this thread got nil response last year). But will go on!

This sort of history obviously is relevant, and people have kept good records and made good history of old GTs etc .. that same level has to be reached and exceeded for these, as they are from the modern / internet era with so much history available online, along with everyone involved in their inception etc still being Alive lol.

PS I am also partial to a yellow one

Well, another update to this thread. Whilst looking for information on BF2 F6 P0001 (which has shown up for sale in WA c. $80k, see link), the red BF F6 shown earlier in the thread has shown up in an article that was re-uploaded by an NZ media outlet. These were not found anywhere 2 years ago.

It appears that the car was fitted with Dark Argent wheels for the You Yangs shoot, and it's plates were gifted to yellow BF XR8 ute for part of that shoot (maybe no show plate available).

This is the article -

https://www.autocar.co.nz/from-the-a...6-first-drive/

I have attached pic of the yellow ute and the red F6. I have since sold P0002 to a friends' brother and it is in storage. Great to link it to some photos in it's prime.

I am ALWAYS on the hunt for images of these cars in motor shows etc. so that I can link the history to cars that still exist (F6's only lol).

Here is BF2 P0001 for sale -
https://www.tradeuniquecars.com.au/d...typhoon-948006

Haven't been able to link this car to anything. Motor shows show a Bionic BF2 on Twist wheels.

If anyone has more FPV photos from motor shows 2004-2007 please don't hesitate to upload or share.
