Default Registration plate NSW '1' up for auction

Thought to be the first issued rego plate in Australia, NSW number 1 is up for auction. Biddings currently at over 10 million.

A little about its history and an old pic, nice to see its graced a Ford at one point.

When I saw this, in the mid or later 1980s, it was on a gold LTD parked kerbside across the road from Ryde Hospital. Thought it probably a dignitary “opening” something there.

The “LTD” shown in the msn article looks very much like a Falcon GL to me.

I do hope Lady Marjorie was not conned by her local Ford dealer into paying an LTD price for a Falcon GL with some LTD badging slapped on!
