I have been trying to remove the trans from my ba1 wagon wreck to put into my ba2 wagon that decided it didn't like 3rd of 4th gear anymore. The issue i've come across is that the engine seems quite reluctant to let go of the gearbox. I've removed all of the bellhousing bolts, the tailshaft, the cooling lines, the shifter bracket and the crossmember is unbolted and currently being held up with a jack and yet the gearbox is unwiling to budge. I can't get anything into the seam to pry the seal apart and pulling on it seems futile.
If someone with a bit more knowledge than myself is able to tell me if there's any bolts or something simple that i'm missing that would be greatly appreciated, Cheers. |

You’ve also removed the starter? What about the converter to flexplate fixings?
Look at a clear picture of a BA BTR for sale online, to cross-check you haven’t missed any bolts. |

I have removed the start but you've lost me at "Converter to flexplate"?

How do I access those bolts while the transmission is still attached. Are those bolts not at front of the torque converter which I would not have access to?

https://fordforums.com.au/wsmpub/ba/307-01.html section 307-01-62 step 6. One of these can come in handy: https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_...tool&_osacat=0 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-QsspIdGm8

There is some possibility you’ve damaged the front seal where the converter fits into the transmission, by the yanking. Hopefully not - but if it leaks noticeably this is why.
Once you have the converter bolts out, bolt something (scrap) across the exposed part at the bottom of the bellhousing, this is to stop the converter coming forward and partially disengaging. |

Yeah righto, I haven't yanked it much because I don't wanna force anything to move for fear of damaging things like that and it's not leaking yet so hopefully it'll be alright.
