That works equally the other way tho, too, cw. When you pay $60 cash, I only pay $59.98 on the card.

School is fine still.
Education is fine still. Every generation will have examples of what is mentioned in this thread. Humans will get out what they put in. The types mentioned in this thread will be a minority. Skills vary as well. Some aren't great with traditional subjects but excel at others.

Having worked in supermarkets for 20 years, another thought re not using cash. I honestly think they would prefer you used card as its quicker, therefore less wait time for other customers, then leading to have to have less people serving therefore less wages and more profit/productivity. Probably applies to other businesses aswell.

But, the use of electronic devices to calculate, point in the right direction, send for help, and socialise is essential to the younger generations. These devices are an assistance to older generations who can read a map, go bushwalking without needing a rescue helicopter, and generally manage their lives without the dependance on the Googlenet. I don't want to go back to the 1950s, but whenever there is a natural disaster, the authorities now tell us to check the latest news, etc ........... bit damn hard when there is no electricity, the mobile phones don't work, and you can't get to a supermarket for a convenient, frozen, precooked meal. |

How frequently do we have a thread bemoaning younger generations?
Or does nobody remember? |

If I had to guess, I’d say about as often as the younger generations complain about the older ones.

This one only works once and only if you have good repore with the bar staff at your local. Not generational at all. Buy drinks, pay with a 20, get your change then say 'i paid with a $30 note'. They will go straight back to the till then 5 seconds later laugh and reply with something along the lines of '**** you're an idiot'. Yeah they are right but i find it funny at the time.
