Just a sound shell, preferably with fixed glass unbroken - that’s all I really need. Have driveline, tub and front clip.

White car you linked looks a good prospect for someone wanting a manual AU.

No dings down the side of it, he mustn’t have thrown boxing bag Bev against it.
But that is worse than the crack heads placing exorbitant prices on HSV XU6 and CV6 Monaro… ‘very rare car’. Yes, they were rare for a reason, no **** wanted them when they were new and the same goes for today.

Hmm, dunno. Would be a REALLY tough choice between the Common Dore or this:

https://www.themusclecarshop.net.au/2008-fpv-fg-gt-315

I'm really torn between the two...
A stonkin' N/a V6 monster for 1.5 trillion K or a real Aussie collectable..

Decisions decisions. What should I do?

I wonder if they have seen the movie 'The Castle'?

That tag line certainly fits this scenario.

Cheers,

One Man

Hard pass when a Miami powered one can be had for $10-20k less (IMO).

Agree that 5.4L V8 is a boat anchor, they took a truck motor, put fancy heads on it, took out the variable valve timing and then had this engine in a 1800kg car, that wouldn't pull the panties off your roofied missus under 4000 RPM and then paired it up with a BTR initially, what a fail and AIDS combination. Its Ford Australia's version of Honda's F20C, except put it in a heavy large sedan and pair it up with a slushbox that will pull the speed of sound in 1st gear.

When you finally hit that 4000-7000 RPM where it boogies, you're well above dangerous driving charge speeds.

Its still shitful with the ZF as well, especially in comparison to the XR6T/F6 where it comes on boost virtually instantly and you get this fat surge of torque down low.

She's no LS, GM has had it over Ford with V8s right up until Miami appeared, not to mention Ford deciding to discontinue V8s from 1982-1992 or something, then reintroducing with the boat anchor 302 Wheezer in the E series - thats why there was a zillion more Holden/HSV fans than Ford ones, and Holden (and the Commodore) was seen as 'Australias car' even though it used imported everything.

If you think about it, was the I6 that good (E Series/AU Tickford edition and then Barra) or was the V8s on offer just absolute boat anchors?

This might be an unpopular opinion but as much as I like the 4.0s outside of decent fuel economy on the highway, low down torque and reliability they are a pretty average engine. Rough as guts for a straight 6, sound like shit stock or with an exhaust, don’t rev, nothing in the upper rpm range. Just no character to them.
Compared to say a BMW M30B35 which goes back to the 1970s, has similar torque and drivability to the ohc 4.0, more power, much better sound and pulls pretty hard.
Or Mercedes M104 3.2, down on torque but has about 170kw, revs out to 7000rpm and awesome doing it.

I'm not huge on Euros, but the I6 in the 1990s E34 BMW M5 - 250KW out of a 6 back then when everything was still in that crippled emissions era:

https://www.whichcar.com.au/features...-e34-m5-review

Was increased to 3.8L, 250KW,
