My 2000 VT Calais has airbags in the front seats.

I think aftermarket seats in an FG would require engineering for the mounts & any seatbelt stuff that maybe connected.

FG XR8 would have front seat air bags fitted as standard, as per the Brochure Scans on the Forum.

This also https://fordforums.com.au/wsmpub/fg/501-20B.html suggests that only those with side air curtains fitted had seat side thorax air bags. So perhaps not in base models unless optioned up.

Do they have the required Australian Design Rules (ADRs) approval?

Yes they do, what kind of Engineering do i need to fit them as they come with Sliders ( Bases ) im 2 hours South West of Bathurst. Im looking at the Saas Kombat or GT bucket seats but i will visit a retailer to view them first as everything looks good on the web, i did get a price for having my drivers seat re-trimmed but they are asking $1'100 each.

Ask SAAS about any certificates or approvals that the new seat might come with. They must be ADR approved surely.

Hi. You will need to use the factory ford seat bases and adapt the seat to them as they have the required seat belt buckle and tensioner units attached to them. From memory 8mmX50mm across the front of the base and 8mmX75mm across the rear gives you enough distance front to rear to pick up the mounting points on the saas seats. Cheers MD
